25-year anniversary: “Frode Laursen was only meant to be a stopover”

With an ability to see opportunities rather than limitations, Flemming has worked his way up throughout his career, from collecting return bottles to managing a supermarket and from warehouse employee to deputy warehouse manager. On 17 September 2026, Flemming Christiansen celebrates his 25th anniversary at Frode Laursen.

Flemming’s working life began with a job collecting return bottles. He later completed his retail training at Brugsen in Mårslet and worked his way up to become a store manager. After several years in retail, however, he felt like trying something new.

“Retail is always exciting, but I needed to try something different. Frode Laursen was really only meant to be a stopover,” says Flemming.

He started in the picking department at the warehouse in Hørning. After just three months, however, Ole Andersen saw new potential in Flemming, who then moved on to Co-pack and later took on several different roles in the company.

The opportunity to put experience to work

When the opportunity arose to become part of Frode Laursen in Vejle, Flemming was quick to put himself forward. Here, he could draw on his experience from both retail and the warehouse in Hørning.

“You should always look for opportunities, and I feel that my experience from the retail world has given me some special opportunities to make a positive contribution. I am pleased to have been able to contribute to so many parts of Frode Laursen’s journey,” he says.

For Flemming, it is especially the teamwork, collaboration and the company’s values that have made the past 25 years so rewarding.

“At Frode Laursen, we do not just talk about our values, we live them. And of course, we have lots of great colleagues. Just as we get to know new customers better, we also get to know each other better across the business. It is incredibly interesting to visit one another and learn from each other.”

Flemming lives in Odder and has a 54-kilometre commute each way. The distance has never made him question his choice.

“I am happy when I drive to work, and happy when I drive home again. Even if it had been 100 kilometres each way, I would still have taken the opportunity,” he says.

Flemming is 55 years old, married and the father of three children aged between 17 and 25. The family will soon also welcome a small puppy, and they enjoy spending their holidays camping together. His eldest son is also currently training for a career in warehousing.
