Frode Laursen donates to the Red Cross

The logistics company Frode Laursen is donating this year’s Customer Christmas gifts to the Red Cross and their humanitarian work in crisis areas worldwide.

“There are conflicts and unrest in far too many places, so we have chosen to donate to the Red Cross. They operate across politics and borders to help people in desperate need,” says Thomas Corneliussen, CEO of Frode Laursen.

The Red Cross assists children and adults in crisis hotspots worldwide who urgently need food, water, medicine, psychological first aid, and shelter.

All too often, children are victims of adult conflicts. Every single day, children are killed or maimed in war, and more than 110 million people live as refugees. These are people who have lost everything and are in urgent need of help. The donation from Frode Laursen supports the Red Cross’s ability to be present and assist people in crisis zones, says Bjarke Skaanning, Head of Disaster & Crisis Response at the Red Cross:

“Right now, we are witnessing many severe conflicts worldwide that require our presence. The humanitarian needs are enormous and come from people living in despair and insecurity. They don’t know how they will make it to tomorrow. So, our ability to be present with emergency aid and protection is crucial. A hot meal or medicine means a lot to a parent who doesn’t know when they can next feed their children or whose children are in pain. It can mean everything to an individual that we are there.”

Frode Laursen has chosen to forego customer Christmas gifts in favor of charity for the fourth consecutive year. With DKK 130,000, the Red Cross can, for example, provide emergency blankets to 2,080 children on the run or supply life-saving food to 520 malnourished children for a month.

“It’s not a hard choice. It just makes a lot of sense, not only for us but also for our customers. So this is one of the Christmas traditions we’ve decided to keep,” says Thomas Corneliussen.
