New BREEAM-certified logistics centre ready next year
On Wednesday, 27 August, Frode Laursen celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the company’s new logistics centre in Östra Ljungby. The 20,000 m² facility, which is scheduled for completion next year, is being built according to Frode Laursen’s sustainable construction concept, Green Warehouse Vision II, and will be certified as “BREEAM Very Good.”
“We are excited to be able to offer this solution, and we have experienced strong demand from our customers for a logistics setup that combines high productivity with sustainability and reliability,“ says Thomas Corneliussen, CEO of Frode Laursen.
The new logistics centre in Östra Ljungby is located about 10 km from Frode Laursen’s facility in Åstorp. That centre is already fully utilised with no possibility for further expansion. Therefore, the new facility in Östra Ljungby provides the necessary capacity to grow in line with customer needs.
“We are seeing significant demand for our efficient and flexible logistics solutions. Today, we manage approximately 700,000 sqm. of logistics space across the Nordic region, including 166,000 sqm in Åstorp. But we are experiencing increasing demand from both existing and new customers. That is why we are now building in Östra Ljungby,“ says Thomas Corneliussen, adding, “Although we are initially constructing 20,000 m², the site has the potential to expand to a total of 90,000 m². This gives us long-term flexibility.”
Solar panels, biodiversity and intelligent use of electricity
In recent years, Frode Laursen has constructed all new logistics centres based on its Green Warehouse Vision, an ambitious building concept that can be certified according to the recognised BREEAM standard. The concept combines a range of innovative solutions that reduce climate and environmental impact – both during construction and in the facility’s subsequent operation.
“Among other things, heat pumps will be installed, rainwater will be reused, and green areas will be created around the logistics centre. In addition, we plan to establish solar panels on the roof and implement the latest solutions for intelligent energy use, both indoors and outdoors,“ explains Thomas Corneliussen.
