Focus on biogas and HVO-biodiesel

7. November 2019

In Frode Laursen we focus on alternative fuels to replace regular diesel.

In 2016, we were among the very first to invest in a biogas truck and soon we will have another one in Sweden. Furthermore, we also drive on HVO-biodiesel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), which is a form of renewable diesel that has been produced from vegetable fats and oils. Unlike regular biodiesel, hydrogen is used as a catalyst in the creation process instead of methanol. This makes it a more clean-burning, environmentally friendly diesel alternative.
– HVO biodiesel is a 100% biological diesel fuel, and it can limit CO2 emissions by up to 88%, says Jan Skov Pedersen, who is technical manager at Frode Laursen. He continues:
– This is a solution that we use more and more often. Last year we went from using 15,529 litres HVO-biodiesel to using 279,554 litres HVO, and I have no doubt that in the future we will use even more alternative fuels.
