As a haulage driver, your work consists of driving various consignments from one location to another. You must enjoy having a varied working life, and like the fact that one day you might be driving products for distribution to shops while the next transporting goods to a central warehouse.

At Frode Laursen, drivers are able to work in shifts, with trucks being shared by several people. Professionally, we require that you hold a CE licence which permits you to tow a trailer over 750 kg. As a haulage driver, you have a flexible job with considerable responsibility, and you must be positive and competent vis-à-vis our customers. Even when it’s busy, you must never compromise on quality or safety.

At Frode Laursen, we work as a team. We maintain a good tone of voice at all times and there is a strong sense of camaraderie, and it is important that you approach your work with a positive attitude.

As a haulage driver you are …

… flexible. One day you might be driving consumer goods, and the next day palletised goods. You must be able to handle unfamiliar situations, and feel comfortable relating to new people.

At the same time, you work in shifts, usually sharing the truck with one other driver. It’s a job that requires good driving skills and a calm manner, and you must keep your truck and your papers tidy and well ordered.

What I like most is the freedom

Erik Lindved has more than 38 years of experience as a driver, and has been a haulage driver for Frode Laursen since 2016.

He starts each day between 3:30 and 6:30 in the morning.

– After that I climb up into my cab, and drive off with consumer goods for two to ten customers. My customers are mainly small shopkeepers, whom I now know very well, says Erik, whose working day varies depending on the number of deliveries and the driving and rest periods.

When asked what he likes most about the job, he he replies immediately:

– The freedom. I have what we call freedom with responsibility. I also enjoy getting out and talking to some of the shopkeepers, and driving around the country. When you’ve been driving for many years, you get to know the customers well, and that’s nice, he says, while adding that another good thing about working for Frode Laursen is that an agreement is an agreement:

– Everything is well managed, and there is a high degree of mutual respect, whoever and wherever you are, as he puts it.

On the question of why one should become a haulage driver at Frode Laursen, he says:
