25-year anniversary: "It’s been a privilege”

30. June 2025

On July 1st, 2025, IT employee Tommy Nielsen will celebrate his 25-year anniversary at Frode Laursen – and at the same time mark the end of a long and diverse working life in the company.

When Tommy started in 2000, he was the first full-time employee in the IT department, which back then handled everything involving cables.

“That meant I had a very varied job: I programmed in Navision, helped with networking, and set up equipment in the warehouses. A good mix of everything,” Tommy explains.

Over the years, both Frode Laursen and the IT department grew, and more colleagues joined. That brought new opportunities and new challenges.

“We could begin to divide tasks among us, and at the same time, more systems were introduced, and demands increased. It’s been exciting and challenging – and a privilege to be part of it,” he says.

Cybersecurity and documentation have especially become key areas – not least because customer requirements have increased.

“We’ve had to develop strong systems and solid solutions that could handle the growth and increasing complexity. I’ve been driven by the desire to optimise the business and find smart solutions that could both make work easier and reduce costs. We’re in a highly competitive industry, so that’s been motivating.”

After 25 years at Frode Laursen, Tommy is now looking forward to a new chapter. He’s decided to retire – planned so he and his wife can enjoy this new phase of life together.

“It’s been a great place to work with great colleagues and a strong culture. But now it’s time for something else. We have an old house on Endelave that needs renovating, and three lovely grandchildren we’re looking forward to spending more time with. It’s going to be good.”
