25th anniversary: “Frode is like family”
On 31 May 2026, Eik Hardland Hansen celebrates his 25th anniversary at Frode Laursen.
Even though Eik works at the freight forwarding office in Tølløse on Zealand, he started his career on the road. To begin with he drove exports, before wanting to be permanently based in Denmark when his father fell ill.
“I didn’t know anything about Frode Laursen, but saw a relief driver’s job advertised. Back then, relief drivers also helped out at the terminal as needed. I did that for a couple of months before I was given a regular goods delivery job in Copenhagen,” explains Eik.
Later, Eik’s mother also fell sick. Therefore, he was allowed to drive evenings and nights so he and his father could share the task of looking after her.
“I shared the truck with a mate, and was allowed to take it back home. That saved me a lot of time, which I could spend with my mother. This flexibility was invaluable,” says Eik.
After five years, Eik wanted to try his hand in the office when the possibility of working as a freight forwarder on the evening shift arose. In recent years, he has worked as a freight forwarder during the day.
“It’s an enjoyable job with lots of little challenges every single day. When it all comes together, it’s the best feeling. We’re here for our customers, and I love it when everything ticks along smoothly. People are friendly and helpful, and there are brilliant colleagues everywhere. I recently spoke to a colleague from Sweden who told me about their daily life: ‘Frode is our family’, as she put it. I could certainly relate to that, as that’s what it’s really like,” says Eik.
Eik lives in Fårevejle in north-west Zealand in a 400-square-metre property which he bought for his mother and himself after his father died. He spends his spare time renovating the house, going out with friends, keeping fit and – when time permits – going fishing.
