This year, employees at Frode Laursen have had the opportunity to opt out of their Christmas present and instead donate to the charitable organisation “Danske Hospitalsklovne” (Danish Hospital Clowning). Yesterday, we therefore handed over DKK 130,000 to the hospital clowns at Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby.
− It just makes good sense in every possible way to support Danske Hospitalsklovne, who not only help vulnerable and sick children and young people with various diseases − but also their relatives through difficult times, says Trine Bank Hansen, HR manager at Frode Laursen.
The DKK 130,000 was handed over by one of Frode Laursen’s drivers, Thomas Pode Bentzen. His daughter was born prematurely, and she has therefore been hospitalised several times.
− We have really enjoyed the hospital clowns over the years. They are extremely good at playing with the children. In this way, they help distract thoughts and create warmth in often sad surroundings. And if you doubt what they mean, you should just look at how happy my daughter is when she meets them. They really are a great support, says Thomas.
Today, Thomas brought his truck, which the children either had the opportunity to see in the parking lot or view from their room.
− I am part of the ” Lastbiler for børn” (Trucks for Children) initiative, and it is always fantastic to see how the children light up when they see the big truck. So, of course, we also had to give them this opportunity today, he says.
At Danske Hospitalsklovne, the donation arouses great excitement, as it helps to allow the clowns to continue with what they were born to do.
− It is incredibly valuable that Frode Laursen will help the children and their families in a difficult time. This donation means that our hospital clowns can create play and bursts of light for even more children when life in the hospital hurts. We are therefore very grateful for the donation, says Tania Dethlefsen, director of Danske Hospitalsklovne.
